Creation of a refurbishment concept for an architectural competition (gmp Architekten Hamburg) – the competition for the conversion for the 2006 World Cup was also won on this basis.
Refinement of the concept until it is ready for execution – preparation of a specification of services – specialist construction management with the difficulty of taking into account ongoing events (Hertha BSC soccer; rock concerts during the summer break)
The Olympic Stadium was partially constructed as an earth stadium, with only the upper ring, which is supported on numerous reinforced concrete pillars, protruding above ground level. All visible exterior walls and pillars were clad with Franconian shell limestone.
